Program Purpose
-
The Instructional Technology Specialist: Computers (077) program is
an add-on certification to the Master of Arts in Educational
Supervision
degree. The 077 certification is required for those who will serve in
the
central office position of a school district as Director of Technology
and 077 is strongly recommended for the Technology Coordinator position
that drives technology integration within a school building.

Program Objectives
-
Among other skills, a graduate of this program:
Provides leadership for short- and long-range planning for all
technology
initiatives.
Plans, develops, and implements staff development activities to meet
established
IT needs.
Uses state and local technology plans to select, purchase, supervise
and
configure technology to meet district needs.
Assists technology users in resolving problems and develops activities
to promote technology.
Serves as a clearinghouse of information on trends, research,
applications,
and effective practices with technology.
Works with personnel at all levels to assess and plan for new
technologies.
Facilitates planning and implementation of local and wide area networks.
Develops and models instructional activities for staff within the
district.
Knows K-12 curriculum and the competencies for technology integration.

to
meeting the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School,
applicants seeking advanced-level ("M") license must already hold
either
an "A" or "G" level teaching license from the North Carolina Department
of Public Instruction (or from another state).
