Equity for Students Access to 21st Century Knowledge
This short videoclip is a tiny piece of a larger presentation made by Keynote Speaker, Elliot Soloway, at the International Conference of the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, SITE 2003. Dr. Soloway is doing pioneering work integrating and developing classroom specific software for PDAs in the Detroit public schools. He makes the case that the only way in which public education can achieve equity of access with computer technology for students is to employ PDAs. He argues for universal PDA access, a handheld for every student and teacher. As PDAs are rapidly increasing their capacity for applications and wireless communication and at the same time, dropping in costs, this option will increasingly be one that should be strongly considered.
This web page contains an embedded video file in WMV format. See the source code of the page for details on how to do this in your own web pages. It is optional whether to have the grid lines of a table or background cell colors show or not. However, putting video on a dark background helps its visibility, much as a picture border helps to define the image.
