The Beginning Teacher Individualized Growth Plan (IGP) is used to document professional growth and development focused on the INTASC Standards. Beginning teachers are currently required to complete an IGP annually. During the first six weeks of school beginning teachers complete their Individual Growth Plan (IGP) with assistance by their mentors.
The following suggestions may be helpful for beginning teachers in preparation for developing the IGP:
- Download a copy of the Beginning Teacher IGP
- Review the INTASC Standards
- Review the language of the Standards with your mentor.
- Reflect on your teaching experience and practice relative to each standard
To develop the IGP:
- Use the second page of the IGP to assess your strengths and weaknesses relative to each standard
- Work with your mentor to select the key indicators from 2 or 3 INTASC Standards on which you will focus for your first year
Seek help from your mentor when completing the IGP.
